Dembo Kanteh is a Senior Research Management Professional at the MRC Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he heads the Research Management Office. He is also the President of the West Africa Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA). He is a known leader in research programme management and business processes. He is an established trainer across West Africa for both WARIMA and the African Research Excellence Fund (AREF).
Over the past 10 years he worked extensively across West Africa building partnerships and managing research collaborations including the WANETAM project where he doubled as the Head of Governance ensuring compliance and standardisation of research outputs from the network. In this role he has facilitated and supported human capacity development, infrastructure development and institutional system building initiatives creating an eco-system for effective conduct of research including clinical research. He has managed funding and contracts from all major funders of biomedical science research.
