Board-certified in Medical microbiology, virology and infectious disease epidemiology. Vast experience of collaborative clinical and diagnostic research work in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and South Asia, with a focus on strongyloidiasis and other neglected tropical diseases. Since 2018 Director of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene at Saarland University Medical Center, Homburg, Germany.
