This page provides an overview of the communication requirements and guidelines for projects funded by Global Health EDCTP3, ensuring compliance with the necessary EU visibility rules (Grant Agreement, Article 17 – Communication, Dissemination and Visibility and Annex 5).
Why communicate?
Communicating about your project helps you:
- raise visibility of your work and its contribution to global health;
- highlight Africa–Europe scientific collaboration;
- share results and lessons learned with peers and stakeholders;
- support wider dissemination and uptake of your research;
- attract skilled professionals to your team.
Set clear objectives
Define:
- your project’s communication objectives;
- your key audiences;
- the best tools and channels to reach them.
Communication channels
Ensure strong project visibility by using multiple channels:
Project website
We recommend having a project website (it is usually mentioned in the grant agreement). Keep it updated with your project's objectives, activities, progress, and results.
Social media
Use your project or institutional accounts to share news. Don’t forget to tag Global Health EDCTP3 on LinkedIn and @EDCTP3 on X so we can amplify your content.
Newsletter
A newsletter helps you stay connected with stakeholders. You can:
- use existing mailing lists from partners;
- create a new list tailored to your project’s needs.
Tap into local networks
Your coordinators and beneficiaries are your strongest communication allies. Their local presence provides access to:
- Media outlets (radio, TV, online, print)
- Health institutions, public authorities
- Academic and research communities
- Community leaders and influencers
By tapping into these established networks, your communication activities can reach the right people, in the right places, and in the right languages.
Tips:
- Identify local media/communication contacts
- Craft messages that reflect local languages and cultural contexts
- Share success stories through local events and platforms
Acknowledging Global Health EDCTP3 funding
As a Global Health EDCTP3 beneficiary, you are legally required to acknowledge your funding. Always include:

- Global Health EDCTP3 logo;
- EU emblem + text ‘Co-funded by the European Union’;
Download the logo and EU emblem
- Funding statement ‘The project is supported by Global Health EDCTP3 and its members.’

These elements must appear on all communication materials, including:
- publications (e.g. scientific papers, press releases);
- promotional materials (e.g. flyers, brochures, newsletters);
- online platforms (e.g. websites, social media);
- equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure.
Use of the Global Health EDCTP3 logo
- Use the logo in full—don’t crop, stretch, or alter it.
- When shown with other logos, the Global Health EDCTP3 logo must be equally visible.
