Launch of the call for proposals
Here is an explanation of the steps required to become a Contributing Partner. Refer to the Guide for Contributing Partners to Global Health EDCTP3 for a comprehensive explanation of the process.

Step 1: Initial expression of interest and consultation
The aspirant CP contacts Global Health EDCTP3, expressing interest in collaborating.
Step 2: Preparation of the draft endorsement letter
The aspirant CP and Global Health EDCTP3 agree on the terms and conditions regarding the partnership.
Step 3: Submission of the final endorsement letter
The aspirant CP submits the formal application, known as the Letter of Endorsement, to the Global Health EDCTP3 Governing Board.
Explanation: The letter of endorsement is the central application document, specifying the scope of the partnership. It includes detailed information:
- The research area to which the CP seeks to contribute.
- The type of contribution, Financial Contributions (FC) and/or In-kind Contributions to Operational Activities (IKOP), and their respective estimated amounts in EUR.
- The projected duration of the contribution.
- Specifics and details of the proposed contribution, such as disease areas, project activities, and reporting arrangements, may be added.
- Confirmation of the candidate’s commitment to comply with Global Health EDCTP3’s legal framework.
Step 4: Governing Board assessment and approval
The Global Health EDCTP3 Governing Board assesses the letter of endorsement and then approves or rejects the application. It may result in a request for additional information or clarification.
The result of the decision is promptly communicated to the aspirant CP.
Step 5: Contractual arrangements
Following the formal approval, the call topic is published (or amended if already published) to reflect the inclusion of the Contributing Partner's contribution, as detailed in the letter of endorsement. Subsequently, the necessary contractual arrangements are prepared.
The contractual mechanism depends on the type of contribution provided:
- For IKOP: The Contributing Partner becomes a member of the consortium as a beneficiary and signs the Global Health EDCTP3 Grant Agreement.
- For financial contributions (when the CP is not a beneficiary): A funding agreement is signed between Global Health EDCTP3 and the Contributing Partner. If the financial contribution is transferred to Global Health EDCTP3, a payment request will be sent to the CP following the agreed terms.
