Dorothy Yeboah-Manu is a professor of Medical Microbiology, the Director of Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana and an EDCTP Alumnus. Her main research area is in tuberculosis (TB) (pathogen genomics, AMR, transmission dynamics) and Buruli ulcer (BU). One of her significant studies in TB is understanding the biology and genomic epidemiology of Mycobacterium africanum (Maf), a TB causing pathogen restricted to West-Africa.
Furthermore, Dorothy is currently co-leading a pan African consortium characterising genomic mutations and transmission of Drug-resistant TB within Africa. She is currently co-ordinating an all-female West-African PhD program (TALENT) with the objective to bridge the gender gap in West-Africa.
Dorothy is the chair of the National TB Control Program Advisory Board, a Member of College of Experts, Africa Research Excellence Fund and support proposal review, scientific leadership workshops and act as a mentor for early career researchers. She is a recipient of the Royal Society Africa Prize in 2018 for recognition as an outstanding research scientist based in Africa who is making an innovative contribution to the sciences and a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
