
The received proposals involve 851 different partners from 82 countries. 54% of partners are based in Africa and 39% in Europe. Applicants were invited to submit first-stage applications across four different topics with an indicative call budget of €113.9 million.
The submitted applications are distributed per topic as follows:
- Global collaboration action for the development of TB drugs for therapy and chemoprophylaxis in adults and children in sub-Saharan Africa (HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-01-TB-01-two-stage): 38 applications submitted for a €30 million available budget.
- Global collaboration action for prevention and treatment of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) in sub-Saharan Africa (HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-01-LRTI-02-two-stage): 44 applications submitted for a €33.9 million available budget.
- Global collaboration action towards better prevention, treatment and clinical management of HIV co-infections or co-morbidities in sub-Saharan Africa (HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-01-HIV-03-two-stage): 85 applications submitted for a €25 million available budget.
- Global collaboration action on climate and health in sub-Saharan Africa (HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-02-CH-01-two-stage): 111 applications submitted for a €25 million available budget.
All figures are based on the information provided by applicants in their submitted applications, before the eligibility, duplicates and clerical errors checks.
Two single-stage calls for proposals for Coordination and Support Actions are still open until 2 September 2026.
Next steps
Evaluation of the submitted applications by independent experts in the respective fields is now ongoing. The outcomes of the first stage evaluation are expected to be communicated in June 2026. Successful consortia will then be invited to submit a full proposal by 17 September 2026 (second stage).
