36 new global health project proposals selected for funding

36 project proposals have been selected to receive a total contribution of €215 million from Global Health EDCTP3. Grant agreements with the successful applicants are expected to be signed during the first half of 2026.

In December 2025, Global Health EDCTP3 concluded the evaluation of the second-stage of the 2025 calls for proposals – the largest calls so far. 104 second-stage proposals had been submitted by the call deadline of 3 September 2025, requesting €667 million in funding.

€215 million to advance health priorities in sub-Saharan Africa

Based on the evaluation results and available budget, 36 project proposals have been selected for a total of €215 million (excluding contributions from global collaboration actions). The average success rate is 35%. 

Additional project proposals placed on a reserve list may be invited for grant agreement preparation in the coming weeks, subject to available funding.

The selected project proposals span across seven topics, divided between research and innovation actions (RIA), coordination and support actions (CSA) and one identified beneficiary action (IBA).

What's next

The successful applicants will now start preparing the grant agreements. More information about the selected projects will be published following the signature of the grant agreements. 

Independent evaluators selected from the Horizon Europe expert database have supported Global Health EDCTP3 throughout this evaluation.
