Global Health EDCTP3 has opened the calls for abstracts, scientific symposia and workshops for the EDCTP Forum 2027, one of the leading global health research events focused on infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. The deadline for submissions is 2 September 2026 at 17:00 (Brussels time).

Under the theme ‘Innovating together for resilient global health', the 13th edition of the EDCTP Forum, taking place from 5-9 April 2027 in Madrid, Spain, will offer researchers, policymakers, funders and implementers the opportunity to showcase their work at a flagship global health event.

The Forum offers a unique platform to share research findings, build partnerships and help shape discussions on global health priorities. Currently, submissions for abstracts, scientific symposia and workshops are open.

Abstracts

Abstracts are original contributions within the scope of Global Health EDCTP3 Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda that will shape the EDCTP Forum official programme. Abstracts can be selected for oral presentations in parallel sessions or for poster presentations during lunchtime sessions.

Submissions from researchers and stakeholders involved in health research in Africa and globally are welcome. Researchers working on projects supported by Global Health EDCTP3 and other related Horizon Europe programmes are encouraged to apply.

Global Health EDCTP3 will support transport and accommodation costs for a limited number of early and mid-career investigators with high-ranking abstracts. This support is intended exclusively for investigators with limited research funding.

Submit an abstract

Scientific symposia

Symposia are part of the official EDCTP Forum programme. They will provide an opportunity to present topics of strategic relevance to the Forum theme and engage with a diverse audience of researchers, policymakers, funders, and global health stakeholders.

Symposia will include presentations, discussions, and exchanges with Forum delegates, helping to advance science, policy dialogue and community engagement.

Symposia organisers, chairs and speakers are responsible for securing their own funding to attend the event.

Propose a symposium

Abstracts and scientific symposia should respond to one of these three broad categories:

  • Advancing biomedical innovations
  • Knowledge translation and implementation science for public health impact
  • Research capacity strengthening, equity and ethics

Workshops

Workshops are part of the official EDCTP Forum programme. They will offer practical, interactive learning experiences focused on career development and transferable skills. All workshops will be aligned with the Forum theme.

Workshops will enable early and mid-career researchers to actively participate in the Forum, benefit from practical hands-on learning experiences, and interact closely with topic experts.

Organise a workshop

Applicants will be informed of the results of the three calls by December 2026.
