The Global Health EDCTP3 Governing Board has appointed new members to its Stakeholders' Group, following an evaluation of 70 applications received from organisations worldwide. 32 African, European and international organisations have been appointed as members and three have been invited as observers. This represents the second cycle of the Stakeholders’ Group, building on the foundations laid by the previous members.
Diverse voices shaping the future of global health research
A balanced membership has been established, comprising 13 organisations with presence in Africa, 8 in Europe, and 11 with an international reach. In selecting the new organisations, the Governing Board prioritised achieving a representative balance of stakeholders, taking into account the geographic scope, theme and sector diversity of the applicant organisations.
Several highly scored European research organisations and pharmaceutical companies were placed on a reserve list to make way for umbrella associations and networks that could represent their interests.
Newly appointed members to contribute to the programme’s priorities
The Stakeholders' Group will provide expert advice and guidance on the programme's strategic direction, contributing their expertise and perspectives to shape the programme's initiatives and anchor it in the wider global health context. The input of the Stakeholders' Group will inform the programme's decisions and help drive progress towards its objectives.

Most of these organisations have already appointed a representative and an alternate to participate in the Stakeholders' Group, who will serve a two-year term and help ensure gender balance. A small number of organisations are still finalising the appointment of their representatives.
How the first group shaped the programme’s direction
The first Stakeholders’ Group played a key role in shaping the early development of the Global Health EDCTP3 programme. During its mandate, the group contributed to organising the Twelfth EDCTP Forum (Kigali, 2025), provided substantial input on the update of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), and supported the identification of adjacent sectors relevant to the programme’s broader objectives. It also offered reflections on Global Health EDCTP3’s evolving mandate within the context of the Lusaka Agenda. Together, these contributions helped lay the strategic foundations on which the programme is being implemented.
